Every Xero App Awards 2026 winner and finalist, in one place

Xero handed out the 2026 App Awards at Xerocon Denver this week, and the list is longer than it has ever been. Six global categories, two regional categories across eight regions, and a new award for the developers who build the plumbing nobody sees.

Below is every winner, every finalist, and a link to every app, so you can go straight from "who won" to "should we be using that". Then the part most award coverage skips: what the results actually tell you about where the Xero ecosystem is heading.

What changed about the awards in 2026

Last year's awards had five global categories and no regional winners. We covered them at the time in our 2025 App Awards wrap: Paidnice took Small Business App of the Year, G-Accon took Practice App of the Year, Mayday won People's Choice, ServiceM8 won Innovation and Subsync by Finlert won Emerging.

This year Xero widened the field in two directions. It added a sixth global category, Development Partner of the Year, which recognises the consultancies building custom Xero integrations rather than the apps themselves. And it named regional winners for both Small Business App of the Year and Practice App of the Year across Australia, the UK, the USA, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Asia and Ireland.

That second change matters more than it looks. Sixteen regional winners plus six global ones means the awards stopped being a single global leaderboard and became a map. An app that would never beat Ignition or Cin7 Core globally can now win its home market on its own terms, which is a far more useful signal for a firm choosing software in Dublin or Johannesburg.

What the results actually tell you

Nobody defended a global title. Every 2025 global winner was beaten in 2026 except one. Paidnice went from Global Small Business App of the Year to a regional win in New Zealand. G-Accon went from Global Practice App of the Year to a Canada and Asia finalist. ServiceM8 lost Innovation to Pulsify and turned up as a small business finalist in three regions instead. The exception is Mayday, which won People's Choice for the second year running and added the New Zealand practice title on top. Winning the community vote twice, against a bigger field, is the single most impressive line in this year's results.

The winners cluster around getting paid and getting documents in. Look at what actually took home trophies: accounts payable (Pulsify), accounts receivable (Paidnice), bulk payments (Paysoft), approvals (ApprovalMax), ecommerce settlement (A2X), document collection (Content Snare), client portals (The Portal Genie), bookkeeping capture (SimpleAI, Tofu). Cash in, cash out, and the paperwork in between. For all the agentic AI talk from Xerocon London six weeks earlier, the apps winning awards are the ones that quietly remove admin.

Xero is now competing with several of its own winners. This is the tension worth watching. Xero shipped Smart Document Capture and Auto Bank Reconciliation this year, and it is building further up the practice workflow stack. Several award-winning categories, capture, reconciliation help, receivables chasing, sit directly in that path. Ask every vendor on this list the same question: what do you do that Xero will not do natively within a year? The good ones have a confident answer.

Small markets punch above their weight. Ireland produced two winners and eight finalists off a fraction of the user base of the USA. South Africa's practice category was contested entirely by locally built software. If you run a firm outside the big three markets, the regional lists are more useful to you than the global ones, because those apps are built for your tax rules, your banks and your filing deadlines.

How to actually use this list

An award list is a shortlist, not a recommendation. The apps here have been vetted by Xero for quality and traction, which saves you the first hour of research. It does not tell you whether the thing fits your firm.

A practical way through it:

1. Start from your bottleneck, not the list. Write down the three jobs that eat the most unbillable hours in your practice this month. Then scan the categories above for apps that address those three. Ignore everything else.
2. Check the region tag before you get attached. Several of these apps are strong precisely because they are local. Payroll, tax and payments apps rarely travel well across borders.
3. Ask for a production reference, not a demo. A firm your size, using it on real client data, for at least six months.

The People's Choice Award is the exception: it is decided by an open vote of the Xero community, which is why it tends to reward apps with the most vocal user bases rather than the largest ones.

What is the new Development Partner of the Year award?

It recognises consultancies and development shops that build custom Xero integrations for clients, rather than apps listed on the Xero App Store. The first winner is AhoyAhoy Enterprises, an Australian firm based in Wollongong. It is a nod to the fact that a growing share of Xero work now happens in bespoke builds rather than off-the-shelf apps.

Does winning an award mean an app is right for my firm?

No. It means Xero's judges rated it well against other apps in its category and region, which is a useful filter but not a fit assessment. Regional winners are often the better starting point than global ones, because compliance-sensitive tools are built for specific tax rules and banking systems. Check that the app supports your region, your practice management software and your ledger volume before you shortlist it.
