The Sydney startup is shortlisted in the AI Innovator - Start Up category, with winners named at a gala on 30 October

SYDNEY, October 2026: Admiin, an AI-native workflow platform for accounting firms, has been named a finalist in the AI Innovator - Start Up category of the Australian AI Awards 2026. The nomination comes as a new generation of AI software takes on the repetitive admin between accounting firms and their clients, work that has relied on people and keyboards for decades.

Behind every tax return sits a chain of manual tasks: preparing documents, collecting signatures, chasing clients, verifying identities and filing paperwork. In most firms, that work runs across six or more separate tools, with the same details keyed in again at each step. It slows lodgements in peak season and adds admin cost to every new client a firm takes on.

Two shifts are now changing that. AI can read and act on accounting documents well enough to take over much of the work. And since 1 July 2026, AUSTRAC’s Tranche 2 rules have added client verification to the workload of Australian accountants, raising the cost of running admin the old way.

Admiin runs the whole admin workflow between a firm and its clients on one platform. Firms using Admiin serve more than 2 million taxpayers, and the platform has processed more than $600 million in tax payments to the ATO.

“For years, as accounting firms grew their client base, they had to grow their support teams with it. AI changes that equation. The firms we work with are taking on more clients and more work without adding the same level of headcount, because the platform handles much of the high-volume, low-value administrative work. Being named a finalist is a strong signal that the industry recognises that value and is ready for this shift.” said Darren Hosiosky, co-founder of Admiin.

At Logicca Chartered Accountants, a 50-person firm with more than 4,000 clients, the time spent preparing each lodgement fell by 75%. The firm estimates it recovers about 1,100 admin hours a year.

“With AI these days, technology is improving. As a firm, we need to improve and progress with that, otherwise we’ll just get left behind,” said Darragh Boylan, accountant at Logicca.

Winners of the Australian AI Awards 2026 will be announced at a gala in Sydney on 30 October.
